After being welcomed to a splendid looking Emmaus by the Director Margaret Gallagher the President of the Province Chapter, Brother Kevin Mullan, inaugurated the Chapter at 4pm. His address emphasized courageous conversation, compassion and a contemplative discernment around the choices to be made. Delivered in the context of a wonderfully paced and prayerful opening ritual his remarks were very well received.

.
Some formalities followed Kevin’s remarks with: the appointment of Tellers for elections later in the week; the appointment of secretaries to the Chapter; the approval for the Planning Group to become the Steering Group for the Chapter; and a Stewardship Committee of 3 Brothers to examine the Stewardship Report to the Chapter in greater detail.
The two facilitators for the Chapter process, Sister Gabrielle Stuart and Sister Mary Harrington, were then introduced and began their work with a brief reflection from Colossians 3:15-16. It posed the questions: 'where can Christ be found in the course of the week' and 'what are your hopes and concerns for the gathering'?
Other groups to operate during the Chapter period include a hospitality group, a liturgy group, a social group and a décor group. The Chapter was also informed of the presence of the Health Care Co-ordinator, Brenda Farrell, for the Province.
